Angel Reese reveals her WNBA paycheck doesn't cover her $8,000-a-month rent

Chicago is one of the most expensive cities to live in the United States, and Angel Reese has revealed that her WNBA income does not pay her $8,000 monthly rent.

Reese revealed her astronomical monthly rent in an Instagram Live video, as well as her yearly pay with the Chicago Sky, which totals $73,439.

Living paycheck to paycheck is not uncommon for someone fresh out of college and in their mid-20s, like Reese.

Reese's decision to live a luxurious lifestyle stems from her off-court activities and brand relationships.

The 22-year-old has connections with confectionery company Reese's Pieces, Topps, Beats by Dre, Goldman Sachs, and her own podcast. These are sure to be hefty contracts for one of the WNBA's best stars.

'Hating pays for my bills, darling. I just hope you understand that the WNBA does not cover any of my costs. "I don't even think that pays one of my bills," Reese wrote on Instagram. 'Actually, I'm trying to figure out how much rent I should pay for my current residence. I'm going to perform the math quickly. I don't even know what my income is.

'Yo, I am living beyond my means! No, my rent is higher than that. It's $8,000. I am living beyond my means.'

There are certainly wonderful places to live in Chicago that won't cost Reese $96,000 a year.

Reese spends more than four times the average for a one-bedroom apartment in Chicago, where the typical price is $1,847, according to Apartments.com.

Reese's annual compensation with the Sky will also not increase significantly next season, rising to $74,909.

The soon-to-be WNBA sophomore evidently has a financial counselor or earns enough money from brand deals to avoid paying over $100,000 in rent each year.

Even though many have criticized the WNBA for the sums it pays its players, Reese has provided one example of how to live a lavish lifestyle while still competing in the league.
