"Millions of men, women, and children are currently suffering in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, the Congo, and around the world. "In times like this, it is important to remember that we have the power to bring change, love, light, and hope to those who need it the most," Doja addressed the throng assembled on the Great Lawn in Central Park, New York.
"I collaborate with Global Citizen to assist individuals in areas of conflict and catastrophe, and I know many of you will join me in taking action to earn your tickets to attend tonight. "But we can't stop now," she added. "Please continue to use your voice to ensure that individuals escaping violence receive the food, shelter, and education they require and deserve. There is beauty and strength in all of you who are watching and have chosen to be here tonight. This is the time for us to invest on what is most important: life."
During her Global Citizen Fest performance, Doja also addressed reports that she is engaged to actor Joseph Quinn. While playing her Billboard Hot 100 chart smash "Agora Hills," she is seen declaring, "I'm not married," while the microphone is turned down. Last week, while playing at Las Vegas' iHeartRadio Music Festival, the "Paint the Town Red" rapper flashed a ring on her left hand, leading many fans to wonder if she had proposed to the Stranger Things star. "No, I'm not engaged; it's a David Yurman ring with no rocks," she subsequently commented and deleted on X (previously Twitter).
Hugh Jackman, Global Citizen Ambassador, presented the festival, which also featured performances from co-headliners Post Malone, Jelly Roll, and Rauw Alejandro. Global Citizen is one of the world's top organizations dedicated to ending severe poverty. As in previous years, the festival provided free tickets to those who took action on the Global Citizen app or the organization's website to combat poverty, preserve the environment, and demand equity.
In addition to live songs, Saturday's concert featured appearances from the UN Messenger of Peace, Jane Goodall Institute founder and famed primatologist Jane Goodall, and Coldplay artist Chris Martin, who served as the event curator.
